THE NEXT MO FARAH-and he lives right here in Cairns
They say the apple doesn’t fall far from the tree and in this instance it’s absolutely true. Ollie Boltz, son of the gorgeous Jill Boltz-nee Hunter, Running Champion and Olympian; and Daniel Boltz Australian/Suisse long distance running champion and Olympian is showing signs of pursuing a future in the sport his parents excelled in.
Pure raw talent has carried him to the podium on numerous occasions but he is beginning to combine his gift with a grueling training schedule designed by his mother- coach and founder of PACE PROJECT, a coaching business training young up and coming FNQ Athletes to be the best of the best.
We can only imagine what this amazing Cairns talent’s exciting future might look like.
This is what young Ollie had to say:
AGE: 13 but soon 14
2016: QLD School States XC Champion-12 Year olds
9th in Australian School Nationals.
2017: QLD Little Athletic 1500m Champion. 800m Runner-Up
(how I did that I’m not sure)
Australian Little Athletic Nationals Champs-1500m 7th,
QLD School XC Representative at National XC where I
thought I had one of my worst races to finish 22nd – but
surprisingly it made me more determined to do better
GOALS: To be better than yesterday. I want to one day run for Australia. I hope with continued consistent training, to fulfil that dream. I also know I have not matured yet and I’m hoping that once I do, something magical will happen- Hahaha
NEXT BIG EVENT: Australian National Athletic Championships in Sydney- March 2018. Running both the 3000m and 1500m.
SCHOOL: St Andrews
BEST THING ABOUT RUNNING: The feeling I get afterwards, the awesome shoes I get to wear, hanging out with my friends and travelling
WORST THING ABOUT RUNNING: Sometimes knowing how much training is going to hurt. Stretching- I’m not very good at doing my stretching
OLLIE SAYS: When I run I feel free and good. I have run since I was 9 but back then, only when I felt like it. I went to training because my sister was doing it.
